At the 3A Classification, a proposal was submitted by a portion of the current 3A schools to review the schools assigned to the Far West League and Mountain Valley Conference. The schools within those leagues overwhelmingly supported a realignment to restructure the two leagues into three leagues. The OSAA staff sent a draft proposal of potential changes to the membership on November 21, 2023. The staff received considerable feedback supporting the restructuring for the 2024-25 school year; all feedback was shared with the Executive Board. The OSAA Executive Board unanimously approved changing league assignments for schools as outlined in the attached document beginning in the fall of 2024.
This change will greatly help with travel costs and help lower the amount of time our student athletes are out of class. The change also allows us to schedule more non-conference games which rekindles old rivalries and helps us find closer competition. Unfortunately, the league alignment does not influence Special Districts and Football, but given that the OSAA historically doesn’t make league changes mid-time block,] this a big win for our school and district.
Thank you to the hard work of Cody Blair who began advocating for this last year and to Andy Rygg for seeing it through this year.

The Lakeview High School Girls Wrestling Team placed second among nine teams at the Girls Winter Classic hosted by Rogue River High School on December 20. All Lakeview wrestlers placed in the top four in each of their respective weight classes to place them ahead of Grants Pass, Rogue River, and Eagle Point. Sutherlin won the overall tournament title. Lakeview was led by first place finishes from Riley Stubbs and Quincey Ludwig, both of whom pinned all three of their opponents. Austyn Dolbear and Raelynn Severson both came in second place in their weight classes and Avery Rosecrans placed third and Becca Ryan placed fourth.
Way to go Lady Honks!
Good luck to all sports traveling this weekend. Go Honkers!

REPORTED GUN ON LAKEVIEW HIGH SCHOOL CAMPUS
This morning around 8:00 a.m., it was reported by some students on their way to school that they observed another student with a gun in their pocket. Law enforcement was immediately called. After a thorough investigation they concluded that a student did have an airsoft gun in their pocket when the student left their home. The student decided to return home when they discovered the airsoft gun in their jacket pocket. Law enforcement found the airsoft gun in the student’s bedroom where the student stated they had left it. The airsoft gun was not brought on campus and the incident is considered closed at this time.
